“Quench not the Spirit.”
I Thessalonians 5:19

II Samuel 6:14-16
In this passage David dances before the Lord “with all his might.”
David and all of the children of Israel praised God with shouting and with the sound
of the trumpet. David’s praise was seen through an open window by his wife Michal.
Because of what she saw, Michal despised David in her heart.
So many times the believers and the observers in the church quench the Holy Spirit
with their own thoughts and impressions of what is taking place....
at times speaking in judgment of the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of others.

There are many scriptures which encourage us to be excited and fervent in our praise.

Acts 2…The Day of Pentecost
The disciples were told that they would receive power from the Holy Spirit.

They were told not to proceed with the Great Commission without it. Following Christ's instruction,

they waited in the upper room. The Spirit descended as tongues of fire and the room was filled
with power. The participants were of one accord. They prayed, worshipped God, and spoke in tongues.

Thousands of souls came to Christ that day because of the Word of God
and the work of the Holy Spirit.

In Acts Chapter 2 he power of the Holy Spirit is symbolized by tongues of fire…
I Thessalonians 5:19
“Quench not the Spirit.”

Psalm 150… “Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD.”
These six verses are instructions for the believer explaining that not all worship is quiet.
Certainly prayer, meditation, reflection, and introspection have a place in our services.
However, God also wants to hear the praise of  trumpets, stringed instruments, and loud cymbals.
Remember that services like these are worship celebrations in obedience to God.

There are many scriptures which encourage what may be called Glorious Praise…
For the saints described in the Book of Revelation… “Alleluia” is the highest praise.

Revelation 19:1
Psalm 100
Psalm 95
Psalm 98
