Footsteps of Jesus

Sweetly, Lord, have we heard Thee calling,
Come, follow Me!
And we see where Thy footprints falling
Lead us to Thee.
Refrain:
Footprints of Jesus,
That make the pathway glow;
We will follow the steps of Jesus
Where’er they go.

Though they lead o’er the cold, dark mountains,
Seeking His sheep;
Or along by Siloam’s fountains,
Helping the weak. (Refrain)

If they lead through the temple holy,
Preaching the Word;
Or in homes of the poor and lowly,
Serving the Lord. (Refrain)

  • Footsteps of Jesus #3172:26

Matthew 16
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Worship Suggestion:
The sound file is looped.
1. As the song plays the first time, (During Verse 1) make remarks about the privilege and responsibility of being a follower of Jesus Christ. The scriptures

tell us that we are to take up our cross in order to follow Jesus. We have to deny ourselves and put our selfish desires away. We need to give to others, empathize with the brokenhearted, and use a measure of our faith to encourage and to help others heal. If we do this we are following in the footsteps of Jesus. Pray to the Lord and ask for strength for the journey. Then our faith will bear fruit.
2. As the song continues (During Verses 2 - 3) read Matthew 16:24-28 and Galatians 5:22-26. Let the song end.
3. When the song restarts, sing all verses together.
4. Prayer and Meditation.
