Psalm 61
1 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Worship Suggestion:
The sound file is looped.
1. As the song plays the first time, (During Verse 1) make remarks about the times when we feel overwhelmed. We all experience this at times in our lives. Just when we think that we have nowhere to turn, we remember to look to the Lord, the Most High God, to help us in times of trouble. Whether we face difficulties with the necessities of life, struggle in relationships with family and friends, or we are experiencing challenges when the world throws so much at us, our faith will bear fruit if we trust and believe that the Lord will bring us out. If we lean and depend on God, our faith will increase.
2. As the song continues (During Verses 2 - 3) read Psalm 61 and Psalm 121. Let the song end.
3. When the song restarts, sing all verses together.
4. Prayer and Meditation.

  • The Rock that is Higher Than I #3192:47

The Rock that is Higher Than I

O sometimes the shadows are deep,
And rough seems the path to the goal;
And sorrows, sometimes how they sweep
Like tempests down over the soul!
Refrain:
O then to the Rock let me fly,
To the Rock that is higher than I;
O then to the Rock let me fly,
To the Rock that is higher than I!

O sometimes how long seems the day,
And sometimes how weary my feet;
But toiling in life's dusty way,
The Rock's blessed shadow, how sweet!

O near to the Rock let me keep,
If blessings or sorrow prevail;
Or climbing the mountainway steep,
Or walking the shadowy vale.
