Spiritual Food for Thought: Topic 15
"Putting it All Together: Navigating Law and Order in Real Time"

The best we can do is to work within the law of the land to manage our short-term and long-term goals and plans.
We must be vigilant in our resolve to put God first in all things.

Unless we put God first, we run the risk of letting our own experience guide us without seeking more information,
and seeking God's wisdom and His will. The Bible provides key scriptures which will help us to expand our thinking

and broaden our perspective. Within the 66 books of the Bible we study the timeline of God's people
from Abraham, to Jesus, to the Apostles, with a glimpse of the End of Days in Revelation.
In the broader perspective, God is asking us to look at the "big picture" and not just our small place in the world today.
If we broaden our perspective we can see much more, understand much more, extend greater empathy and compassion
to everyone and, most importantly, apply the laws of our land with fairness and “true justice."
I believe this is why God gave us the Bible. The Bible can and will widen our view.
Then we can see more clearly that the law is a framework and not a quick fix.

Many of the problems we face in society have no quick solutions. The law is not a quick-fix tool.
The law is a framework of justice. We, as constituents in this society, should not rush to apply the law
without considering all aspects of a circumstance. Rush to judgment has caused us to have one of the highest
incarceration rates in the world. Improper application of justice has not afforded us a greater peace of mind.
Improper application of the law has made things worse, and we are anxious and worried more now than ever.
This is a result of hasty application of the law. Police reform is currently being reviewed and new ideas
are on the table because we are not applying the law in a just manner. The legal system needs repair.
These changes cannot be made overnight, but change needs to occur. This doesn't mean to throw out the law.
We must find additional ways to serve, protect, and apply equal justice in our society.

In addition to working out the problems of law and justice, we have to try to correct the problems we have inherited
over many decades of systemic failures. How can we improve the situation? This is where social restoration,
and ending systemic corruption come into play. Topic 13 was about restoration. Topic 14 related to systemic issues
and ending the corruption that serves as a pipeline to incarceration within a broken system.

Each of us can find something that we can do which will contribute to the repair and revitalization of our society.
Sign a petition, make a contribution, walk with a picket sign, call your congressman, help the poor, donate food,

use social media, open a community center, help lower recidivism rates, help our schools, help our elderly,

support the American family, and VOTE.
